Are you looking for an exciting apprenticeship role to kick-start your career?
We are offering three great opportunities to join Rotherham Council’s Network Management Team, who are passionate about doing the best work possible for the community and to improve the borough. The Network Management Team cover a wide area of work including maintaining highways and public rights of ways, managing streetworks and permit applications, providing parking services and maintaining and improving the drainage network.
Each of the roles is an office-based position and will require the successful candidates to undertake and complete a Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship. You will gain valuable work experience as well as studying for a recognised qualification programme in work time via regular day release.
The ideal candidates will be motivated, enthusiastic and keen to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge within a technical environment. Great time management and communication skills are a must, as is the ability to get on well with others and work as part of a team, as well as being able to work independently on some tasks.
The roles will be based mainly at our head office Riverside House in Rotherham town centre, however the Drainage and Highways team roles will, from time to time, require you to work from one of our depots at Kimberworth and Hellaby. There will also potentially be some site-based work to support officers involved. All of our Network Management team members need to be flexible with working location and tasks to ensure a top-quality service. Be assured you will always get the training and support required to enable you to carry out a range of tasks confidently.
There is great scope for career development both within the Network Management team and wider within the Directorate and Council – we have hosted numerous previous apprentices within our team who have moved on to higher level roles in a variety of areas. Apprentices may also have the opportunity to move between disciplines and learn other aspects of work both within and outside of the role they carry out.
The role within the Drainage Team will develop you to be able to carry out day-to-day administration tasks, various financial procedures, respond to customer enquiries and complaints as well as the maintenance and organisation of important Health and Safety documents.
The Highways Asset team apprentice will be trained in various administration processes related to highway searches and asset management, winter maintenance, highway adoptions, condition surveys and general team administration.
Last but not least, the successful candidate within Parking Services will be trained to deliver excellent customer service and business support duties, sometimes dealing with sensitive and confidential information – so discretion is key.
Rotherham Council is a great, friendly place to work which provides a flexible work environment and various opportunities for career progression. If these development roles sound up your street and you want to be part of a team providing an excellent service for our customers whilst getting some great work experience, we would welcome your application!
Within the personal statement in the online application, please ensure that you rank your preferred positions at the top from 1 to 3.
