What is MST- CAN?
Multisystemic Therapy for Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN) is an evidenced programme designed to treat children ages 6 to 17 and their families who have come to the attention of Child Protective Services due to physical abuse and/or neglect.
MST-CAN works with the entire family in an effort to keep children with their families and help the family resolve clinical and practical concerns so that children can be safe.
The Crisis Caseworker will deliver interventions of comprehensive Multisystemic Therapy (MST) child abuse and neglect (CAN) according to the specifications and requirements set out in the MST License. These will address the behaviour of individual young people within a family and community setting under the supervision of the MST supervisor and MST consultant.
The Crisis Caseworker will work across all of the families allocated to MST-CAN, implementing interventions developed in conjunction with the case holding therapist. They will also participate in the weekly clinical supervision and consultation process.
The Crisis Caseworker will be well supported to develop their capability, knowledge and confidence in the MST-CAN methodologies. Support will come from a dedicated MST-CAN Supervisor who will work closely with MST-CAN Consultant. In addition having access to the wider UK and International MST-CAN and MST networks.
The Crisis Caseworker will attend (online) MST Orientation training and MST-CAN Orientation training to ensure they fully understand the model. Along with additional training and clinical development will be offered throughout.
