Rotherham Borough Council is excited to be recruiting for a permanent, full-time fostering social worker to join our friendly and supportive fostering team. This position will involve working in the supervisory team encompassing all aspects of the supervisory role in terms of assessing, supporting, training and reviewing local authority approved foster carers. As a local authority supervising social worker opportunities to work with and complete assessments of kinship carers and carers providing private fostering living arrangements to children and young people in their care may also be a requirement.
The candidate that we are looking for will have enthusiasm and ambition to be able to deliver high quality support and supervision to both prospective and approved foster carers. You will have strong assessment and recording skills and be motivated to promoting an empathic understanding of the needs of looked after children across the service. You will be genuinely interested in delivering a high-quality service that is grounded in providing an environment for children’s emotional health and wellbeing to thrive and flourish in safe, stable and permanent foster placements.

Our aim is to help children and young people accommodated by the Local Authority to reach their full potential with the support of an experienced staff team and community of foster carers.
The ideal person will need to be equipped with the necessary skills to deliver a range of tasks connected to the assessment, training, support and supervision of foster carers. To do this you should have excellent recording and assessment skills, an in-depth knowledge of legislation and the National Minimum Standards for Fostering (NMS 2011) and the ability to develop and maintain key lines of communication with professionals across Children and Young People’s services including foster carers across the Borough.
If you are interested and have knowledge or experience of working in Fostering this could be the ideal role for you.Candidates must be eligible to live and work in UK, be social work qualified, have a clean driving licence and be registered with Social Work England.

You will be capable of accurate reporting and the ability to communicate sometimes complex information to a variety of audiences
You will be able to write comprehensive written reports within given timescales
You will be passionate about maximising a child’s life chances
You will be a team player and willing to offer a flexible approach within your role

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2022 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year.
