Our Safeguarding Children Partnership has a strong relationship-based approach and are committed to working together across all areas of service delivery and share equal accountability and responsibility for keeping children safe. Central to this vision is a whole-system approach to safeguarding children, aligned with the Working Together 2018 guidance.
We are looking for a highly committed and child focused Independent Scrutineer/Chair, someone that shares our values and is equally ambitious for our children. Bringing together the statutory partners at senior level our multiagency arrangements, the Independent Scrutineer/Chair will report into the governance arrangements for each of the statutory partners and will make strong connections to the Safeguarding Adults Board, the Safer Rotherham Partnership and the Health and Wellbeing Board. This is a key role is supporting these arrangements and offering scrutiny and challenge where appropriate. The role will provide high support/high challenge, scrutiny and system leadership, to provide assurance that multi-agency safeguarding arrangements for children across Rotherham are effective and robust. This exciting role will play a critical part in ensuring that the Safeguarding Partnership makes a real and positive difference to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in Rotherham.
You will be accountable for ensuring that our multi-agency safeguarding arrangements have a distinct, independent, and objective presence, and provide independent scrutiny of arrangements. You will support our progress and challenge us to drive all of our services to ‘Outstanding’ through your professional curiosity, challenging practice and continued focus on keeping children safe.
You will have extensive experience in chairing strategic partnerships and an excellent knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and/or adults, as well as the ability to inspire trust and confidence of senior professionals across a range of agencies.
You will be professionally qualified, with a clear vision, strong leadership skills and clearly demonstrable communication and negotiation skills, both with professionals and the public. With significant operational and management experience in a professional specialism, you will also hold a relevant qualification in Health/Social Care, Education, Criminal Justice or Legal services. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and references will be sought prior to interview for short-listed candidates.
