This role is an exciting opportunity to lead the Strategic Community Safety functions within Rotherham Borough Council and across our partners and stakeholders.
A varied role with responsibility for the delivery of the Council’s Community Safety function and associated statutory obligations, this role is key in developing and maintaining highly effective partnerships across the Council and wider partners and ensuring delivery against strategic objectives.
Responsible for team management and performance across a diverse range of specialist areas such as Domestic Abuse, Prevent and serious violence. The post holder will oversee a broad range of crime and community safety initiatives, including the management of external funding and grants.
Joining at an exciting time for Community Safety, with new statutory responsibilities on the horizon and a strong and dynamic local partnership, we are seeking an enthusiastic and driven candidate to continue to strengthen services and deliver the best Community Safety function for our residents.
Key skills and experience:
Experience of managing a team with diverse responsibilities across a range of specialist areas
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the wider Community Safety Agenda, key statutory responsibilities, and current national and local priorities
Experience of developing, supporting and leading Strategic Partnerships
An excellent communicator, able to influence and guide decision-making
Demonstrable experience of leading on the development of strategies and plans related to Community Safety
Ability to analyse and interpret a range of information including detailed analysis and stakeholder views
Strong performance, budget and funding management skills and experience, including application and reporting on external funding

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2022 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
