Due to current Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions we are following Government advice and this may result in interviews being held via video call.
Income collection is vital to ensure we are able to fund all housing related services for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council tenants.
After recent welfare reform changes the collection of rental income is becoming increasingly difficult and our tenants’ incomes are becoming increasingly stretched; the Income Recovery team has recently undergone transformation in order to deal with these challenges. As a result of this transformation we are looking to recruit 1 temporary Income Recovery Officer to help with this.
As an Income Recovery Officer you will be responsible for your own patch of properties and the collection of the rental income; this is to be done via letter, telephone and home visits. You must be comfortable in communicating with tenants through various contact mediums (including face-to-face) and strike the balance between enforcement and support.
The successful candidate will have:
good numeracy and written skills
an ability to build and maintain relationships with tenants, colleagues and third parties
an ability to have difficult conversations with tenants in respect of money and have a firm but fair approach to all unpaid rent
an ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures
an ability to learn and understand IT applications.
You will be required to work as part of a rota, between the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 12.30pm Saturdays.
