The Building Design Consultancy is an energetic and forward-thinking group of professionals tasked with the design, project management and delivery of a wide variety of construction projects.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Framework Manager to work under the direction of the Building Design Team Manager to provide a full quantity surveying service, provide contract administration and contractual advice on projects from inception to completion. This will include with the management and control of project budgets and assistance with the management of the YORBuild and RCP construction frameworks responsible for the delivery of multi-million pound contracts across the Yorkshire and Humber Region.
You will be required to provide advice and make recommendations on quantity surveying and framework matters to all key stakeholders, ensuring standards required by the Council and clients in terms of cost, performance and advice are adhered to and to help implement the Council's procurement strategy for construction-related services.
Applicants should be qualified to Degree level in a relevant subject or be able to evidence the equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience.
It is essential that applicants are computer literate and have proven knowledge and experience in quantity surveying and framework management including knowledge and experience in legal and statutory regulations associated with the role. The applicant must have extensive working knowledge and experience in contract administration, contract documents, cost monitoring and contract management. It is essential to have experience in cost estimating, planning and insurance valuations and extensive knowledge in various forms of building contracts, especially NEC.
Applicants should be able to work independently, under pressure and to deadlines.
A valid driving licence and the use of a car would be essential as the position involves travel around the Borough, for which an appropriate allowance is payable.

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2022 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
