Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council are looking to appoint a Visual Impairment (VI) Team Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to join a quality Service working across Rotherham, leading the VI Team of Qualified Teachers of the Visually Impaired, Specialist Educational Support Teaching Assistants and a Registered Qualified Habilitation Officer.
As a member of the Leadership and Management Team the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the Service Leader of the Inclusion Support Services to shape the direction of the Team. This may also involve supporting projects within the wider Inclusion Department.
There will be a flexible teaching commitment, depending on the needs of the service, and the role will require management at a strategic level in addition to management of the Team.
The role involves responsibility for the caseload organisation and line management of the VI Team and therefore the successful candidate will need to have the right skills and professional knowledge to support staff to improve outcomes for children and young people who are vision impaired and to enable capacity building within schools, settings and families.
The Team has a successful record of inclusion of children and young people within their local mainstream schools and also work across specialist settings and in Post 16.
The successful candidate will need to have a thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and an ability to develop practice within the Team in response to changes in education, LA policy and the latest technology.
The candidate must hold Qualified Teacher Status and QTVI PG Dip. A DBS will be required at an enhanced level.
This post involves travel within the Borough for which an appropriate allowance is payable.
