An opportunity has arisen to join Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s Planning Enforcement Team. The role of the team is to deal with Planning enforcement issues resulting from breaches of planning control, and we are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team who will play a part in all the planning enforcement functions of the team.
You should have knowledge of relevant legislation relating to Planning Enforcement under the Town and Country Planning Act.
You will need to have excellent communication skills as you will be dealing with the general public and you will need to be confident in your ability to deal with difficult situations to convey complex, detailed information.
You will need to manage your own workload to meet targets, working in the office and on site.
You will need to assist in the preparation and delivery of formal and informal reports to all levels of management, including recommendations for appropriate action.
A valid current Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
You will need a level 6 qualification eg Bachelor Degrees, Graduate Certificates and Diplomas; or level 5 qualification eg Diplomas of HE and FE, foundation degrees and HNDs plus experience in relevant areas of work over a period of years; or evidence of the equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience. Being a member of the National Association of Planning Enforcement (NAPE) would be desirable.
The ability to use a range of computer applications and ICT is essential to this role.

This post operates under a Career Grade/Grading Assessment Scheme, with starting salary and progression through the grades being linked to experience, qualifications and level of work being undertaken.
From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2024 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
