An exciting opportunity has risen for a part time temporary Children and Young People’s Counsellor within the Counselling Service that is part of the Parenting and Family Support Service.
The Counselling Service is very well established and experiences high demand. Recent growth in this demand means Doncaster Children’s Services Trust are looking to recruit an experienced children and young people’s Counsellor to support the expansion of the service.
This is an opportunity for the Post Holder to provide high quality 1:1 therapeutic counselling to children and young people across Doncaster.
The Counselling Service operates borough wide and sessions take place at the Family Hubs. Families can access counselling by self-referral or referral by a Lead Professional such as that of a Family Support Worker or Social Worker. The Counselling Service meets Early Help and Social Care needs. The service currently consists of an experienced Counselling Coordinator, a Lead Counsellor and a team of Trainee Counsellors and qualified Volunteer Counsellors.
The Counselling Service has a role in providing bereavement support to families and schools in the event of an unexpected child death. This role will involve supporting this provision.
This is a challenging and varied role. We are seeking a committed, competent and experienced children and young people’s counsellor with a proven track record of achieving positive measured outcomes for children and young people, someone who will be able to manage and work with complex cases some of whom will require Child Protection measures.
The Post Holder will need to be resilient and motivated. The Post Holder will contribute to the development and sustainability of the Counselling Service.

The role will require regular travel across Doncaster.
