The Governance Team within Democratic Services is seeking a highly effective, resilient and professional individual to join our team to provide professional advice and support to ensure that the council's governance activities are delivered to a high standard in which councillors and the public have confidence.
This is a full time temporary role, 37 hours per week, in the Governance Team which is responsible for the breadth of activities that support our councillors individually and collectively. The team co-ordinates and supports the council's governance, overview and scrutiny and decision-making structures.
You will be required to work closely with elected councillors, directors and senior officers of the Council to ensure an innovative, planned and legally compliant approach. This will involve you undertaking a wide range of governance activities, including agenda planning, all aspects of meeting support, advising councillors in public meetings and decision recording in accordance with the statutory requirements.
You will work with the Governance Manager and other Governance Advisors, along with colleagues across Democratic Services, to plan work programmes and lead on service and cross Council projects as appropriate.

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2024 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
