These are exciting opportunities to join a department that is committed to service delivery and helping to shape the future of the district. We are looking to appoint 4 enthusiastic, qualified Environmental Health Officers to carry out food hygiene and food standards and health & safety duties. You will possess a Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health, together with a valid Certificate of Registration with the EHRB or recognised equivalent.
In order to be considered for the appointment as an Environmental Health Officer you must have practical knowledge and experience of the legislative frameworks, key issues and working practices relevant to food hygiene, food standards, feeding stuffs, health and safety, animal by-products, infectious disease control, public health, and other environmental health functions.
The successful applicants will undertake various interventions, investigations, issue legal notices, and prepare prosecution files, as well represent the Council in court.
Applicants must be enthusiastic, good team workers who are, capable of working on their own initiative, prioritise their work be able to meet deadlines and monitor performance to ensure quality standards are maintained and targets met.
Successful applicants should have experience of liaising and working closely with internal services and external bodies to carry out their role and to promote partnership activities to create safer neighbourhoods and safeguarding of those at risk.
Successful applicants will have experience of managing projects from initiation through to completion, including the development and introduction of new initiatives.

Out of Hours work will be required from time to time, including emergency response.
There is voluntary paid participation in the regular working rota’s providing the out of hours noise & licensing enforcement service. The Out of Hours rota for noise monitoring purposes is currently on a paid basis in addition to the basic salary.

These posts will have access to the Public Services Network, if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).
From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2022 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
