A vacancy has arisen for a School Improvement Partner to join the School Effectiveness Service within Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
We are seeking to recruit an experienced, knowledgeable, and inspiring leader with strong leadership experience and with a successful track record of school improvement. Further details of the primary purpose of this post are outlined below with an emphasis on ensuring that all children and young people become effective and successful learners by:
Providing strategic support and challenge to LA maintained headteachers and school governors to ensure continuous improvement and aspirational outcomes for Rotherham pupils and young people.
Acting as lead school improvement partner supporting headteachers, leadership teams and governing bodies with self- evaluation, quality assurance and school improvement planning.
Monitoring and evaluating the performance of maintained schools analysing and reviewing performance data and provision to support and challenge schools to raise standards.
Establishing strong partnerships and collaborative working with all maintained schools, governing bodies and other services within CYPS.
Working strategically to enhance the delivery of inclusive practice across education settings in RMBC, linking into work of Virtual school, Access to Education, Early Years, and Inclusion services to support strategic planning.
Supporting the development and maintenance of effective school improvement systems and strategies to ensure any under-performance in schools is identified early and appropriate actions are taken promptly to secure rapid school improvement.
Leading the School of Concern policy and process including providing, co-ordinating, commissioning, monitoring and evaluating support for priority and targeted schools from a range of providers.
Using detailed knowledge of the inspection framework and practices to support preparations for Ofsted inspections working towards the aim that all maintained schools are judged to be at least Good; providing advice and support to headteachers and governors before and after an inspection.
Facilitating, developing and delivering bespoke CPD opportunities for leaders and staff teams.
Ensuring that all up to date national, regional and local guidance and legislation is shared, understood and implemented by all practitioners.
Promoting and supporting the emotional and mental well-being of leaders.
The role is initially being advertised as a temporary one- year contract so a secondment would certainly be considered. Please note, candidates wishing to pursue the secondment option must secure permission from their Governing Body to be released from their school for the period of the secondment prior to applying.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2024 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
