Doncaster Council’s Public Health team are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for Public Health to be part of their Wider Determinants Team. The link between good health, wellbeing and physical activity has a strong evidence base and this post will be at the forefront of developing our strategic vision to improve health utilising our local assets, enabling residents to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
The post-holder will work in partnership with various council departments, particularly our Transportation and Get Doncaster Moving Teams to further develop, Walks & Wheels, an Active Travel Social Prescribing pilot in Doncaster. You will also work in collaboration with other strategic partners across Team Doncaster to promote and build the project.
The post-holder will be responsible for leading on the continued implementation of the pilot and therefore will be comfortable working in an agile, responsive and flexible environment. It is expected that the post-holder will work some of their time at the point of delivery, currently Woodfield Park in Balby, as well as the Civic Office.
Key elements of the post will be to:
Lead the performance management of the delivery of specific initiatives by providers and sub-contractors in line with Active Travel England and the City of Doncaster Council (as the accountable body) procedures.
Continue to build on the collaborative, multi-agency approach by continuing to develop, implement and sustain a managed network of stakeholders ensuring appropriate and regular liaison, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Take a proactive approach to sharing good practice locally, and regionally and nationally via a variety of knowledge sharing platforms.
Continually source training and information that will enhance skills and knowledge of behaviour change, social prescribing and active travel to relevant partners. This may include GPs and practice staff, social prescribers and active travel service providers.
Work with our Evaluation partner, Systra and the service provider to evaluate and monitor the pilot, which will include a variety of methods such as consultations, surveys, workshops and research and produce reports to a variety of stakeholders.
Ensure effective management of resources and finance, in line with Department for Transport and Doncaster Council (as the accountable body) procedures including the commissioning, procurement and management of a wide range of service delivery arrangements including any contract monitoring and management.
We are looking for candidates with an understanding of the benefits of active travel in relation to improving health and wellbeing. The post holder should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
